A családra vonatkozó s legrégebben 1210-ből származó okmányok alapján Éble Gábor megírta a család történetét. /"A cserneki és tarkeői Dessewffy család", Franklin 1903/. Ujabb kutatások alapján magam ugyancsak irtam a család történetéről. /"A Dessewffy nemzetség közéleti szerepe a Habsburg korszakban", litogr, Kelé, 1936/* ..
Éble a család eredetét Westfáliából származtatja s a már G-yejcsa vezér korában élt Deziszlót - később Gizella királyné udvari emberét - a nemzetség ősének tekinti.

Historical Traces

What is the historiography of the name Kosovo - Kosovo?
By: Dr. sc. Enver Rexha *   Pristina, 24. 01. 2009
__________________________
The name is the first element of human identity, nation, country, state as well. Once it comes to our state name "Kosovo", initially I mean, I do not know how I feel today, prouddisappointed or angry, and so I do not know how they feel more like scholars, historians, geographers, linguists etc.., when writing and use the name in various works we have not yet clear meaning or its origin.
About what was said above, I had to add and that, to surprise the fact that to date, we have very few results, studies by the Kosovo Albanian scholars who have contributed to this issue.  My curiosity to engage in this work starts from two reasons. First, when a few months ago I read in the daily working of Mutiny Namani historian published entitled "Kosovo Field - Area of Siege", which the name "Kosovo" issued by the Albanian origin. Second, when little weeks before the country declared its independence, our tools of information, like television, newspapers, presented interviews taken by local politicians where scholars issue then: that the name is derived when the name first mentioned in literature sources historical and that, as will be known after the official name of the country with international recognition: Kosovo-a or "Kosovo" (variant claimed for a long time and even today by Serbian historiography). Unfortunately, the answers to these questions were quite confusing and unclear by the interviewees. These reasons, makes me deal with the research and study of data - sources and historical literature dealing with Kosovo''name''in order to have a real insight as to its meaning and its origin.
Initially we need to know the name of the country today and our state "Kosovo-a", as toponym is a name in history, which today includes only a portion of the territory (central part) of the ancient Dardania which was at the center of the Illyrian Peninsula Today, the Balkan. Region during its history, was the first part of the Illyrian Dardania, then part of Rome, Byzantium (Dardanci Campus), briefly under the Slavs in the Middle Ages and later under the Ottoman Empire, when separated as a separate unit "vilayet" ( 1877-1912). During the old Yugoslavia (since the country was occupied in 1913 and 1918 reoccupy most of Serbia), Kosovo's territory is divided into three areas - "zhupani" as Zeta, Vardar and Morava (1921-1931), which on was later turned into "Banovina" Regional (1929-1939). After World War II, the territory joins and formed a new unit under the administrative and territorial Yugoslavia young to be called, the territory of the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija - "Kosmet" (1945 - 1968). Since 1968, the country expands its status, and will be called the Autonomous Province of Kosovo - Kosovo, which operates until 1999, when the country after the war (1998-99) and today is internationally recognized independent country named the Republic of Kosovo.
Thus, today the country's name "Kosovo" historical terms, taken as a successor to the old name of the country that was called Dardania. Historiographical data before the name "Kosovo" (in the strict sense of the word "Kosovo Field") are relatively late in history, although geographically name mentioned since the century. XIV. The country's historical name "Kosovo" is recognized by the second half of the century.Century, when the Kosovo Vilayet created administrative and territorial unit under the Ottoman Empire, which included a wider territory than it has today (about 30,000 km), going to survive until today   (Very reduced, with 10,870 km).
I think that is very important to get to know generally the historiographical positions which have been given so far about the name of our country "Kosovo-a." In this regard, we should say that, about the origin of the name of the country''Kosovo / a''problem that arose a long time   and he, between our historiography historiography Albanian and Serbian. Serbian historiography generally, the meaning and origin of the name tries to extract from the Serbian-Slavonic language. It should be emphasized that, in this regard, much more engaged and worked  Serbian historiography, which devotes dozens of case work to date, starting from the first years of the century. XX. The results given so far by the Serbian historiography, as we will see in this paper, will be generally diverse, accurate or incorrect, the deformed, the more my opinion, the extremely biased attitudes politicized.
Serbian historiography, we can say without exception, highlighted in this direction   its position that the name "Kosovo" has origin (etymology) from the Serbian-Slavonic language.Origin of name, is considered to flow from the south Slavic languages, where the word "yogurt", "Kosovo", "kosovac" and "kosoviq" have the meaning of the bird (bird) "Blackbird" (merula), meaning "bird mëllenjës "or" black bird. " Thus, the key notion and importance of Kosovo''name'', or the meaning of different calls (thought to label as,''''Old Serbia,''''South Serbia, Kosovo''Metohija''etj. , ER), has different significance and meaning in some ethnic society. The Serbs, the name marks, defines''Serbian land'',''space''of the Serbian Jerusalem, which raised the cultural and economic excellence in the Middle Ages, who so brutally interrupted Osmanlijëve arrival. Further states:''the name for the average Serb 'Kosovo' is the name of heaven, which marks, assigns the Holy Land [...]''. According to calculations politicized and Serbian researchers mitologjizuara name, noted that the Serbian heroes fallen in Kosovo Polje (The Battle of Kosovo - 1389) are back in "mëllenja" and crying in their song to defeat since then we ardhka and the name of Kosovo Polje, where the "yogurt" is Serbian word for "thrush."The full name of the Province (this is about the period when Kosovo was in the former Yugoslav Republic, ER), which is legally in Serbia is "Kosovo and Metohija." There are lots of symbolism in this name. "Kosovo" is, in Serbian land "Kosova", "black birds" and "Metohija" earth "Metohija", "property monasteries "[...]. "At the time of the loss in 1389, in 'the land of monasteries and black birds' lived 'Serbs' and a number of 'symbolic' of the Albanians."
Serbian etymologist one more time as the position away from the name "yogurt" to draw meaning from the name "yogurt-a" - "kositi", which means the agricultural tool for harvesting, cutting plants, crops etc. According to Serbian historiography, the name "Kosovo" appears for the first time before the Battle of Kosovo of 1389 to a degree (krisobul) medieval, original of which belongs to the time of Stefan Nemanja. In this article mention the name of the district called "Kosovo", which had to pay taxes Studenica monastery. For the first given the name "Kosovo", which belongs to the time of S. Nemanja, who died over the last decade of the century. XII, it is understood that the name mentioned since then. For the degree in question, the author A. Urosheviq states that, in the words and some names, among them the name "Kosovo", which were written in it at the time, I think that this manuscript was completed   later, ie in the new time, for such names has not had the time of Stefan Nemanja or in our language. So in this script (the diploma) entered and the name "Kosovo".   Geographical name "Kosovo" appears only after the battle of the year 1389.
Until then the name with a questionable exception, never mentioning the name "Kosovo". After the Battle of Kosovo Kosovo territory of today always called by the name "Kosovo".  After the Battle of Kosovo, site of today's Kosovo, always called "Kosovo" as in our writings, Turkish and foreign. The meaning of this name the foreigners, of course as prescribed - Translation of natives, understand as coming from the bird name "yogurt" because Merulae or translated as Campus de Merles or Amselfeld Shamp. The label "Kosovo and Metohija" instead of "Old Serbia (Stara Srbija), was established only after World War II.According to historical sources (Serbian, ER) "Old Serbia", in the present "Kosovo and Metohija", composed during the Middle Ages from 9 provinces (Zupa). Even during the century. XVI and XVII, but according to historical sources, all these provinces were called by the name of General "Old Serbia." According to written testimony by Sava on Nemanjën Biography, "Stefan Nemanja (1114-1200) united the" Serbian states "and since then the territory of today's" Kosovo and Metohija "(Old Serbia) entered   within the "great Serbian state." On the uprising of the First and Second Serbian, 1804 and 1813, and as Mbretnin Srpska and Yugoslavia to World War II, the official use - state   is   uses the term "Old Serbia", as well as geographical maps, historical documents, scientific literature and diplomatic writings, especially in a toponimike studies. Old Name''Serbia''as geographic calls placed in the century. the century, under the sense   the changes it suffered after the liberation of the Serbian Principality. When the Principality of Serbia, began to appear as a separate territory on maps, geography (Serb, ER) had to create a new name for those geographic regions of the state''that did not enter serbë''të medieval part of the Principality. With''''Old Serbia were called then all central regions, southern and northern South''''medieval Serbia. D. Author Bogdanovic in his book devoted to the history of "Kosovo" states that the name "Kosovo" will be used conditionally because, if it comes to the province, the name of today that call is the Turkish-Albanian (tursko-Engleski), the derived from the name of "vilayet Kosovo (Kosova), which included the first pre-war   Balkan territory of Sandzak (Novi Pazar) with Upper Polimljen, then the territory of "Kosovo and Metohija," Northern Macedonia to Veles and Eastern at full flow Bregalnica.
Insistence on the appointment at (Kosovo, ER), along with the autonomy movement towards the unit above, that federal (1968), had every angle to agree with history - parathirrje nationalist claims of "large Albanian ".[...] In PKJ documents before and during World War II, and in documents of the constitutional right of the new Yugoslavia, this region was called "Kosovo and Metohija", though, and this label was not quite right, because its territory includes and other regions with special names. From the perspective of regional geography, as this name has not been fully justified. Thus, historically and by tradition (Serbian), or first name (Kosovo) and the second   (Metohija) are not implemented in this area and in his space. The reason most  great, so is speaking before the year 1912 for "Old Serbia" because this was the nest of "culture and the old Serbian state "[...]. But we will use the name "Kosovo", not only because he came into general use as a sign for the entire Region but rather at that, this   name now is a current problem, political and historical, who with that name is known   and entered into the world.Examining the historical past of Kosovo in medieval vast space, along with Kosovo Polje''''and''Kosovicës''that continued to live, we have no other data to know more about the name. But today, one should know and should be taken into account the difference between the "Kosovo" medieval, which was at first called modern naming geographical range of "Kosovo" as administrative entirely new dating. The name "Kosovo" began to expand with the creation of the Kosovo vilayet (XIX century).Step largest expansion deals in 1968, when the name of two parts of an autonomous province "Kosovo and Metohija" is replaced with the name "Kosovo".
In addition to the data presented above, we will present and other opinion given by many other authors Serbianhistoriography''name''Kosovo. Without exception, the name "Kosovo" in the last hundred years, we find the authors manipulated by Serbian historiography in several shapes and treatments, about the positions listed above. Designations for "Kosovo-n", produced under the wishes and desires and find the format as "Old Serbia", "Southern Serbia", "Kosovo and Metohija" - "Kosmet" and "Kosovo", the following designations, which did not stop even in our days work. This applies to the names of the Albanian people of Kosovo, when the getting this historiography, while Albanians are called "Arnaut", "arnautash" and "shiptari. Although the term''new''Shiptar, pretended to use in the territory. Otherwise, the term''Shiptar''as an option, it was during the Kosovo''official use'', approximately up to 1968 years.
Name to form "Old Serbia", is done in almost all historical writing and cartographic material of Serbian historiography century years late. Century, and continuing through the period of the First World War, being used while until today. From the 1920s until 1940, the name of the country preferred to write   and called   as, "New Serbia" (for awhile, since 1913 to 1918) and "Southern Serbia" (where, besides the present territory of Kosovo, and included present-day territory of Macedonia and elsewhere). Forms of the name "Kosovo and Metohija" used from the years 1945 until 1968, still claimed by "Serbia" be the name of "official" i "Kosova." Such attitudes find, say conditionally is also of great authors of Serbian historiography, such as MS Milojevic, J. Ristic, S. Novakovic, S. Protic, V. Djordjevic, J.        It should be noted that, in many other works of Serbian authors have these attitudes, which are more political than scientific character, the more are the views that the authors of the produce, justify etc., But as will be seen, turn out to be historically non-verifiable, that attitudes are false. Turkish historiography offers an interesting data in terms of origin of the name. This option provides us Turkish historiography of origin of the name "Kosovo". Turkish Encyclopedia explains the name of the name "Koh - soh - vah," which is the original Turkish name means "field of Blackbirds." In Turkish the word "Kus" read "Kosh" which means "blackbird", while in the old Turkish word "Kus" was inadequate to "Blackbird" and "ova" means "field".
We also have and some works, but few in number, those of Kosovo Albanians, mostly made from eighty years of the century. XX, who have contributed to the origin and the origin of the name "Kosovo". Must necessarily be noted that applies onlyto separate authors, which the country's name and origin, the origin of the country derive from the name, residence, mountain, castle or city from the space of local territory, who have their work reach conclusions that   name originates from the Illyrian language-Latin, Albanian, etc..   Among the authors who are alone in this regard, I had to mention the following:   Muharrem Carabregu, Skender Rizaj Ejup Statovci, Avni Namani Kepuska the Mutiny. Unfortunately, we and some Albanian author who, not having sufficient knowledge, and I guess even being under the influence and the school of Serbian historiography in the works or their statements about the country's name, origin and etymology explain his derived from Slavic languages. Worse, we have and times when any   The so-called''scholars''ours, declares and explains that the name "Kosovo" for the first mentioned in historical sources or written in the form "Kosovo." For these scholars''''not even worth it comes, let us have the''conscience''of their knowledge.
International historiography in many scientific works i'a  much history of Kosovo, region and beyond, in many cases does not deal with the origins of the name "Kosovo". It's a relatively small number of works that approach the question of the name, and that, in February explaining the superficially. The worst is that we have a case, when in these works, by any authors, deals Serbian historiography version about the origin of the name, it is a bad propaganda in this regard. Unfortunately, this happens for a reason. It is known that Serbian historiography   has very biased and not objective works, besides the name, generally refer to the history of Albanian people in Kosovo. The works that are most important for scientific propaganda anti Albanian, Serbian institutions to translate into major world languages (English, French, German, Russian etc..) And distribute scientific institutions worldwide and international public opinion.
In addition, we will present evidence which would relate tothe time when the name starts to mention more of the historiographical record. You must know that the name "Kosovo Field" - "Kosovo", where war was developed in 1389 , known in historiography as the "Battle of Kosovo", in the middle of the Coalition of Balkan peoples and the Ottomans (Turks), of European historiography and beyond, is also known by thenames: Amselfeld (German), Campa Mierlei (Romanian), des Champs Merles (French), Kosifopedhio (Greek), Rigomezo (Hungarian), Campus Turdurum (Latin), Campus Merulae (called by kronistët latin), Kosovo Polje (Serbian) and Kosovo (Turkish).
Evidence, among the first, the name of the country, field, mountain, village-village, town   called "Kosovo / a," we find in documents of the time out since the beginning of the century.XV. Bishop of Ulcinj, Segano Martino (born in the town of Novo Brdo in Kosovo), which for a time was the vicar   The local Catholic church in Novo Brdo, in an article of its own geographical character   dedicated to homeland during the second half of the century. XV, mentions a valley called "Kosovitza" through which the river is kaluaka Llap, where the country is on one side to the other side Pristina Novo Brdo. By writing the Greek philosopher Konstantin century. XV, in the context of describing the Battle of Kosovo, a place mentioned twice named "Kosovo / Kosova." Note next century. XV shows, to go from Pristina to Vuqitërn, traders had to go through the "forest (male) of Kosovo" or through "boschi Cossova know." From the debtors book of the year 1438, the trader dubrovnikas, Michael de Luchari, who acted in Brdo, near this city, village mentions "Chosouiza. From the works of scholars Muhammad Trnava have the data and village "Kosofc" the Lab region, which is mentioned in 1455, and the witnessed and records of the years 1566 and 1574. It seems that if this village has to do and researcher   Iljaz Rexha, when states that the documents of the years 1566/1574, the   present village "Kosovc" but located in the province of Gallapit.
Udhëpërshkruesi the century. XVI, Petantius when passing through this region, writes that, along the road that leads to Procopia (Prokuplje) in Nisum (Nish) if issued down south, not very far away lies the valley "Kosovitza" through which the river runs Llap. The book, published in Venice in 1605, by Pietro di Giacomo Luccari, when talking about the Battle of the year 1389, shows that Sultan Murad broke up at a place called "Kosovo", which Germans call "Amselveld" Hungarians - "Rigomezev" a Turkey - "Cossova. According to the data presents Kalf Hajj since 1650," Kosovo "was Kadillëk (Kazan) of the Sandzak Vuçitërnës located between Pristina and Kursumlija. But this author, that the Turkish geographer Hadji Kalf, during the second half of the century. XVII, mentions the city "Kosovo" and considered as Kadillëk. Skender Rizaj historian, presents the evidence of British researchers J. Mackay, indicating that there was a "city" called "Kosovo" and which was located approximately 7 (seven) miles (1 mile = 1852 m) northeast of Pristina in Rumeli (Balkan). The same author tells us, "Kosovo" was known as the city and the old mining locality. A register of the year 1498, mentions "Kosovo", indicating that was the important mining location [...]. "Kosovo" as the ancient city, the medieval and the new era collapsed at the end of the century.XVII, but his fame was ruined, his name included a much wider area of the Balkan Peninsula. Kosovo''City''was one of the cities  who fell into the hands of the Austrians in 1689.
After all that you said, will give interesting data concerning the name "Kosovo", which come from sources mapping (geographic). These data will be presented in many maps made by European researchers that include the period since the century. Until the XV century. XIX. In this regard should thankMuharren Carabregu researcher who, with his work, enabled us to recognize cartographic sources dealing with the country's name   our''Kosovo''. The results of his work, mainly those related to our work, will be presenting the following paper.   Initially, it is important to show that, in many maps, the name of the "Kosovo-a", filed or recorded mainly as "Casoua (Kasoua)Casova (Kasova)," Cascova (Kaskova), "Cassovia "   (Kasovia etc.)., And always presenting the country once again as the residence as a region (province). These cartographic evidence before Kasova''-name''''Kosovo''are very important, because these prove the existence of this locality with this name in our territory.

The data-mapping resources that we presented above, it is evident that, since the century. XV until the beginning of the century. XIX, the basis of the name is written and presented with the word''always''Kas. During these centuries, the name will mainly exist in Kasova''version''. Only towards the end of the century. And during the XVIII century. of   XIX, the word''''Kas starts to write and appear in the form''''Kos, that gives us the version and form   name   today   Kosovo''country''. In this regard, will offer dozens of historiographical data to different authors-researchers worldwide, who in their works, mainly published during the century. XIX, in some cases and during the century.Century, the name''Kosovo''will be presented in the form''''Kasova.

- Kamp ushtarak, Shatorre apo Llogore; Castrum - Kështjellë; Castellum - Kështjellë, Rezervuar uji, Katund apo fshat; Castellani - Banorët e një kështjelle; Kascus/a/um - I moçëm, I vjetër, I lashtë; Kasa/ue - Kasolle, Pronë, Çadër ushtarake.
In addition to working, will stop once the word "Kos". By some papers and different views will see that the word''''Kos can not be accepted as the present Serbian historiography, that the word is derived from Slavonic language, but will be shown that this word belongs and other languages as well, there are many meanings to many world languages. Moreover, the origin of theword''deemed''to yogurt dark. Will provide several examples to show that the word not only makes sense in a language as claimed. Thus, the place called''''or''Cos Kos''in Greek, in Turkish Istankoy''''in''Italian''COO, is an island in the Aegean Sea in Greece. This place with that title exists since ancient times-old, who indicated quite clearly that the name refers to no sense,  origin or is related to some Slavic origin. Kindred (relatives) ofRome''Kos Kos''o''or''no-oje Etrur origin, while the Serbs they Kos''gold'', belonged to the old noble family of Bar (Bar, ER ).Name tandin Kos''''predominates and used   Albanian language as the name of man. Although this name dominates the Albanians, its origins derive from Latin. Name tandinKos''closest''is''variant''Cos-tantino to find the Italians.   Kos-tandin''''is a variation of the name''Con-s-tantine''of English. Thus, the name''''Kos tandin used only by the Italians (and Cos-Cos-tanzo tantino) and Albanians (Kosovo-tandin), while variant''Kon-s-tantin''përdorët in many other languages like English , German, French, Greek, etc..
With the word'' Yogurt Called''India''miles''of indisëveriore therefore means the geographic unit length. Then we have terms in mathematics as,''Kos ekans''(which has the function geometry of a circle),''''ekant Kos (geometry),''''Kos-inus (mathematics - Sinus given point District and geometry to function katetes hipotenuzes etc.). Yes Also, we and words like,''not''Kos in English, which imposed slip''Cosmos''and in''Cosmos''Serbian (Svemir) that the three together, have the meanings Cosmos''same''. Kinomantia''''Kos (Greek) which means translation. The profetizuarit''  -''Spoken. Marhija''''Kos (Greek - the world, rule), rule the world. '' Kos Mika''(Greek - the world, rule), in our language''Cosmic / e '' ie.   world-something that belongs to the whole world. Kos-metika''''(master of decoration), viz. Cosmetics'''', etc..
Kjo ndodhi dhe me emrin ''Kas-a''.

SERBIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH?

__________________________
Given that the current territory of Kosovo is a place inhabited since ancient times, from the Arber-Illyrian-Albanians, the place is developed through time are important historical events, automatically understood that, almost every ancient culture that has passed through this region, besides the local culture, has also left its traces. His way of historical development, the Albanian people has created numerous monuments and durable architectural, artistic, historical, ethnographic, etc.. Despite research by the experts that have been made recently in this direction, which are known and published in the mass, I think, are still scarce and incomplete. The results so far in this regard, reports that a number of cultural heritage in Kosovo since the ancient times of their existence are discovered will not only have Albanian national importance, but in many ways defy the boundaries, in which case enter the history of world culture.
Kosovo today is a source of richer material and spiritual heritage of different historical periods, ranging from prehistory to the present and which are separated by values, qualities and their historical significance. One time, they show the flow and continuity of human life, cultural formations, civilizations, etc.., The population of this country. In fund these works of heritage encompasses the sacred objects, places of worship, conducted through periods of time. We in this paper will focus primarily on religious monuments, churches and monasteries in the Catholic and Orthodox, in their development during the medieval period and later. Also, we will focus primarily on the propaganda of the Academy of Sciences and the Serbian historiography which, starting from the XIX-XX century onwards until today, do not choose the tools in their work "scientific" multiple represent the attitudes, trends for the acquisition of the monuments of Christian worship - churches and monasteries "orthodox" that exist today in Kosovo, was pronounced to be them. Moreover, the positions of the pseudo-Serb propaganda historiography presented theses that: everything in terms of monuments and cultural heritage in Kosovo today is supposedly legacy "Serbian" or "Serbian culture; Albanians have" no trace of cultural heritage "unless the Towers, which is supposedly built upon" arrival "and" placing "them in regions of Kosovo during the century. XVIII-XIX; Albanians excluded from any right on the "Serbian holy land" of Kosovo where found "hundreds" monuments "spirits" of the medieval state "Serb", the full positions close to these, forces us to deal with this study.
Historical records show that regions Illyrian (Albanian) entered the sacred literature namely Apostolit since the St. Paul (I century), from which we have evidence: "So from Jerusalem around until I committed fully Illyrian my duty to spread the joyful news of Christ. " With zyrtarizmin of Christianity, according to Milan Ediktit on 313, when church organization was legalized in the Region of Dardania (Kosovo, ER), we realize that through a special administrative status of a legal, Dardania, there will be Ipeshkvisë or Metropolia center of The Council of Nicaea sanctioned with the year 325. As is known, after the split of the Roman Empire in the east and west, on 395, Iliriku administratively is part of the Eastern Empire, and in view of the church will remain under the influence of Rome. IV-VI century church organization took off in Illyria large enough to know that only in Dardania (Kosovo, ER) was up 5 to 7 bishop. At the time of Emperor Justinian (525-565) begins a new era in the life of the church Dardane. Emperor Justinian's church shuffled and thereby created a new province independent church which gave an important role in this part of the Empire. Ilir Emperor, Justinian declared 535 during the XI th novel, in which its place of birth, Justinianën First, the focus turned to big church with a wide expanse of the Empire territories including: Dardania, Mediterranean Dacia, Dacia Ripensis, Mysia, Prima, Prevalitana, Panonia Macedonia Secunda.
In terms of current geographical Justiniana first under its ekzarkatin had Serbia, eastern Srem, Bulgaria West, Northern Macedonia, Kosovo and Montenegro. Later, the invasion of barbarians (Slav-Avar) in the Balkan regions will see that at that time will also change the ecclesiastical map of Dardania. By this time we will see later Dardania church will become increasingly stronger element also krishterizues Slavic settlers in the Balkan Peninsula since the century. VII-X's. During this period suffered major damage ipeshkvore headquarters of arkipeshkvore such as Prima Justiniana, Skopje, Justiniana seconds (Ulpiana, ER), Nis the Remesiana. During this invasion will be stopped temporarily ties with the papacy, to break away for a long time especially in the eighth century, when Eastern Iliriku will see will be attached to Constantinople. But it would also know that, outside the influence of Byzantine church remained for some time bishop of Skopje and Prizren. Prima Justiniana hence, by the year 732, was centered under the ecclesiastical jurisdiction of Rome. After this period, at the time of the Byzantine emperor Leon III, the Ilirikut ipeshkvitë broke away from the dependence of Rome subject to the center of Constantinople.
The following significant changes will occur during the Bulgarian rule (893-971) in these regions, when the bishop of Prizren will be found under the composition of the Bulgarian church. After the year 971, the territory of Prizren Ipeshkvisë will "belonging Arkipeshkvisë of Byzantium until 976. With the formation of Samoil Bulgarian Empire, the territory in question, there will be found under the jurisdiction of the Ohrid Metropolia, which at that time, was declared independent church metropolitans in the range of Patriarchy. After the fall of 1018 on Samoil Empire, the Byzantine emperor Basil II, the Ohrid Patriarchy reduced to the rank of Mitropolisit, but he gave independence over 31 dioceses.
Thus, the tip of Basil II (1020) mention the bishop of Prizren, which shows that, at the time bishop is under the jurisdiction of the Ohrid Arkipeshkvisë. Prizren bishop at that time, was the third ranking and territories included: Hvosnen, Leskovac, Decani, Pec. Peshkopatës headquarters of Prizren was the church of St. Prenës. Stephen Decani Charter Na (source c.. XIV, ER) states that the church of St. Prenës (Prizren) has existed since the days of "immemorial kings." Second Proof of the year 1204 writing is that which shows that, since the Bulgarian empire Kalojani (1197-1207), recovered more territories from the Byzantine rule, it also means the territories of Kosovo, there ipeshkvitë Skopje and Prizren. Later, during the expansion of the state of Raska nemanjidë (According to Serbian historiography, Raska is the core of the Serbian medieval state) south towards the beginning of XIII-XIV century, will okupohen and territories of Kosovo today known to be found under their rule for a while. In this regard, nemanjidët will form their Orthodox church, which as we will see will be independent in 1219 of autocephalous Archbishopric of Ohrid. Having proclaimed independent it will be decided based on Zhiçë of Raska. Occupation of territories of today's Kosovo at the time of nemanjidët, following over several decades to centuries. XIII's, undoubtedly brought a considerable deterioration, not only physical, political and economic but also cultural and religious destruction. Contributed to the deterioration of further transfer of headquarters from the autocephalous Church of Raska Zhiça in Pec, ie in regions of Kosovo. It happened at the end of the XIII th century, where after an attack of the year 1290 by tatar tribes and burned kumanë Zhiçës Monastery. It is understood that Peja was not the only headquarters or permanent Patriarchy of Raska since claimed.Zhiçës monastery was rebuilt and it is known that Patriarch Spiridon Danilo heir have had headquarters there. At that time, also understood that the earliest churches "of the Serbs" were built close to the territory of Raska: Studenica (near Novi Pazar), Malishevë (near the border of Bosnia), Sopoçani (Novi Pazar), etc.. This extension coincides with the territory church medieval state of Raska, described by author-century Byzantine X-[K.Porfyrogjeneti and other sources].
Given the occupation of the Albanian territories in two or three generations nemanjidëve rule, amounting to lie in the territory of Kosovo today, it will be understood that their ecclesiastical center was still abroad. Only during the XIV century, the data show that, during the construction of the Monastery of Gracanica, Decani and Kryeengjujve (Archangels) in Prizren, Kosovo territory today can be said that it had some importance as the center of Peshkopi Raska. Consequently, the strengthening of the power tejmë Nemanjid in this area, so starting from the XIV century, at that time extended Orthodox Church of Raska in this region, with all the features that inhabited the Byzantine Orthodox Church: Byzantine laws, theological works, didactic literature, arts, crafts, by which the church prospered with life essential items from architecture, painting the church fathers to the wardrobe.
Nemanjid power in the territories of today's Kosovo, particularly during the XIV century, will implement a policy aimed at assimilation of indigenous populations of the occupied territories. As more effective in this regard chose repression and religious persecution in the field. Therefore, the rulers of the dynasty of nemanjidëve keep close relations with the Orthodox Church, which built (rebuilt) many churches and monasteries, not only in the territory of Raska, but also in those where their power lay. It is understood that at the time included the villages of Church property that most of the rural population of Kosovo during the XIV century, was forced to link the fate of the Orthodox Church. Embracing Orthodoxy by locals-Sicilies (Albanians), evidenced by the lists of residents, where along with the Catholic clergy apelativ set that is used today in Albanian: a priest, Bishop, abbot, also listed as qualified orthodox clergy: pop, Pope , Papas and kalluxher. Meanwhile, the share of the population of cities, then out through the church property raguzanë colonists, German and Italian influenced and connected with the Roman church. In the document of Pope Benedict XI th year 1303 among the five Catholic parishes in the territory of the parish mentioned nemanjidëve Trepca (de Trepezo) and Gracanica (de Grazaniza). In a document that follows from Papa VIII Kelmenti the year 1346 understand that the bishop of Kotor was right on the parish of Prizren care, Novo Brdo, Janjeva and Trepca. Also in Prizren in 1346 noted that there were two Catholic churches S. Marija S. et de Prisren Petri Prisren supra. In this paper we realize that the archbishop of Bar had the care of these. Thus, Prizren as the center of Catholic ipeshkvisë the documents could follow church life. Here mention Catholic Christian churches such as St. Peter's church, the church of Our Lady Mary and the Church of St. Nicholas. It should be emphasized that the data also indicate that Nemanjid occupation of territories, found partially arbërore population of northern and northeastern areas related kishtarisht with Byzantine orthodoxy (Kosovo and Macedonia) with Roman Catholicism (Diokle - Zetë). At that time many churches were usurped local or on them were rebuilt monasteries of Raska, as are known facts about the church's top-angels Michael and Gabriel Church of St. Prenës in Prizren. These facts present the letters of Pope Clement V, who directed Millutinit (King of Raska, ER) looking to release the Latin churches, which had occupied him or others. In the reign of the Uroš II - Millutinit (1282-1321), the situation of Catholics in Kosovo deteriorated too. He was chasing Catholics and stop their rite. This deterioration of the situation of Catholics, and proves an anonymous writer, is otherwise well acquainted with the conditions and place for the Stefan Uroš II,   says: "We are pursuing many Catholics and hate." He also reports that: "What ravages prelatët churches and attacks," while Catholics in this country "burned up in it" (Gasper genre). For the mistreatment of the Catholic population in 1319, arbërorë leaders sent their representatives with letters to Pope John XXII's in Avinjon, in which case it shall inform the harsh persecution in their country made by Uroš II th - Millutini. Letter was signed by many gentlemen arbërorë. Among these masters arbërorë insurgents ismarked as one of Prizren. Prosecution and persecution of the Catholic population will continue more strongly during the period of Stefan Dusan (1331-1355). To him, it says, was "quite tolerant of Catholics not" because "Catholicism in the nation and to the extent not endure." His harsh measures reflected the Archbishop of Bar G. Adam, in a report to run Duke of Burgonjës, Philip VII of the 1332 Value. He stresses that it is writing "that has itself seen and experienced." Describing the situation states: "in the coastal region and Latin and Arber found in extremely difficult position because the people under the cuff, priests broken, violated and humiliated, and abbot ipeshkvitë often imprisoned ... churches, cathedrals as well as those well, be demolished and all rights, lost and destroyed assemblies.
Documents show that Stefan Dushan time, the whole apparatus of force used for emptying the Albanian territories under the pretext that the Catholics are attending arbërorë inaudible. Although such conditions, Arber, makes conquest and resistance set Nemanjidëve pressure. She says especially with thegreat uprising of 1332 that included the lands of the River Buna (Barbana). Uprising   will be attached to the generosity Demetrius Suma, and on seeing the uprising in 1334 in the district of Prizren. Wild and domestic pressure exercised on the territories arbërore will agree in the office of the papacy. Hence, the Pope Clement VI in 1346, Stefan Dushan wrote: "The kings of Raska, your ancestors, assemblies and churches ... is adopted in its time that even now you keep occupied. " Therefore, the Pope sought by Dushan, to allow the Bishop of Kotor to collect certain contributions to the church ... Parish (Christian). Discriminatory policies of the government of Raska and especially the period of the population Dushan and others arbërore Catholic confession received widespread and institutionalized eu sanctioned by law.Specifically, such a policy was fixed in medieval law, the Code of Stefan Dushan, the year 1349.
Just look at the provisions of Articles 6, 7, 8 and 9, and found discrimination directed against non-rashkase populations.Catholicism under the Code in question is "Latin heresy". Can still be read: "... if anyone hears not be converted back to the true faith (as they called orthodoxy) he shall be punished with death. ""Clergy heretics (the Catholic confession) of a foreign community trying to make the sermon will be caught, will be sent to the mines or will be deported." "Heretical churches (Catholic) ... will be entrusted to the clergy of the true faith .... ""If there is a latin clergyman who tries to convert a Christian (Orthodox) in latin faith, he shall be punished with death ...". "If Latin is a believer who is secretly married to an Orthodox woman, he should be baptized Orthodox manner, and if he hears not be baptized, he would take a wife, children's home will be reduced to The misery will be forced to emigrate ... "(M. Purkoviq). The so-called "antiheretike articles of this Code, stipulate that all citizens of the kingdom rashkase, community members should ripagëzoheshin foreign to their church. Such activity of Dushan Catholic also describes G. de Boulogne, the Pope's Lega in Padua, in the letter of the king of Hungary and Venice, where he writes: "Stefan Dusan turns violent religion in his own Catholic believers, baptizes that the opposition and out of each provision and the law of the church "(Gasper genre).
But as noted above, despite all the sanctions and prosecutions pursued shumëllojta abuses against the population and especially the Catholic Church during the century. XIV's, she will resist and stand. M. Serb Authors Jovic, V. Korac and others tell us that during   century. of XIV in the territory of Kosovo today found or there are Catholic municipalities and cities with their churches.Catholic municipality counted: Prizren (three Catholic churches), Trepca (two Catholic churches), Novo Brdo (two Catholic churches), Janjevo (a Catholic church). While countries that had Catholic church were: Gracanica, Belasica (Lab Vrh - now deposit the river north of Podjevës Llap) and Pristina.
In this respect even after the death of Dushan, events do not flow well at all in the then inhabitants of Kosovo. On the political scene in the territory of Kosovo will prevail for the best situation for Sicilies - Albanians, to when these will be included in the Balshaj arbëror medieval state. It is well known in literature, historiography, the territory of Kosovo today introduced Balshaj rule from 1372-1385. Once you have strengthened their power, Balshajt in 1369 by the Bishop of Shas asked Pope Urban V's approval for conversion of their Orthodox religion in Catholic. The majority of the population of their possessions that stretched into regions of Albania (L. Maltezi) was Catholic. With this step, Balshajt, intended to fit in the social environment of religious views arbërve, turning further every remnant of the rule of nemanjidëve that arbërore away from the local population. Such reasons make us can be concluded that, for Balshajt, had been a religious orthodoxy imposed on the conditions when they were under pressure and Slavic occupation. They acted under the guise of her until they reached the peak of their political power to avoid any potential blow by them and their church (P. Bogdanovich). Balshaj Rule in Kosovo had direct consequences in terms of the church of Raska.
The data show the grave situation of the Church of Raska, this ideological and political institution of the state in question.Clergy rashkas this period rated it as a "storm" Indeed, because the way "and bandit attacks" were seized its assets to the holy throne, "the Patriarch and the Apostolic office." Church of Raska during this period was anatemuar (because of Patrick's announcement of Raska in 1346 by Stefan Dushan so without legitimate, ie without the permission of the Byzantine Patriarchate in Kostantinopojë, ER). To prevent the destruction that kanosej, I Raska, attempted to comply with Byzantine Patriarchy. Although it seems   was recognized as an independent church of the Byzantine Patriarchate, contentious issues for which purported to be totally without a dependent or not, its position in the Region of Kosovo at that time was much weakened. For many reasons Balshajt prevented its center remains as before in Pec and agreed that neither the Church of Raska assembly to meet there (1375). Prizren was considered as the city from which better to control its activity, so here was appointed the new center. Furthermore, for the first time in the history of the church of Raska was put in the position of church leaders not a cleric so rashkas them, but a Bulgarian clergyman, Jefreni. Other measures related radical during the reign of Balshaj in parts of the territory of Kosovo makes rashkase weakened churches have made the relocation of the center of "Patriarchy" by Zhiçë of Raska Prizren. This happened of course before the Battle of Kosovo of 1389. Also known by the end ofthe century. the XIV and the beginning of the fifteenth him, in addition to the family that owned land Balshaj arbërore, alongside them will be strengthened and families arbërore Kastriot and Dukagjinëve, which will see it will possess their territories. These two families will be seen to act and govern the territory arbërore the territory of Kosovo today (especially Dukagjini Plain and Prizren) always up under the collapse of the whole country under the Ottoman Empire (1455-1461).
In this respect the aspirations of historiography, Academy of Sciences, the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Government, even today, claim to mastery of architectural monuments of cultural heritage in Kosovo - the objects of Christian cult churches and monasteries. These items call them, on the pretext that they were supposedly built by the kings during the Middle Ages, when they ruled territories paskan today's Kosovo. Known and is not contested that issue, since nemanjidas rule, especially by the time the Kings: Millutinit (1282-1321), Stefan Decani (1321-1331), Stefan Dushan (1331-1355), and at the time of the last ruler of this Uroš dynasty of V (1355-1371), the territory of Kosovo today will be found under the occupation of the state of Raska nemanjid therefore under the political power of their religion. Rulers concerned by strengthening their political power, it also strengthened the church, made some medieval towns in Kosovo to use as their permanent headquarters. In this regard the objects of worship, as we shall see, to a large extent will the'adopt for themselves. On the other hand, working in this direction, especially with reference to historical sources and serious studies dealing with this issue, comes out and is well clear that we are dealing with the acquisition of monuments nemanjidas Christian cult Illyrian- arbëror as well as Roman and Byzantine. Monuments of Christian worship in Kosovo, which are considered the churches or monasteries nemanjidase - "Serbian", as claimed almost all the writings of Serbian historiography, such as: the Monastery of Decani, Gracanica, the Church of Saints Michael and Gabriel and Church of Our Lady cut in Prizren, Pec Patriarchy, Stephen Church in Banja Mitrovica, turns out to be monuments of ancient Illyrian-arbërore. Given what was said, by serious scholars, no one denies that the said churches and monasteries were built, rebuilt or repaired on the foundations of the monuments of ancient Roman and Byzantine period.
From all this having been said, and furthermore we should know in addition that the first monument of the church rebuilt by nemanjët territories of Raska in Kosovo today is the church of Pec. In half of   XIII th century, it says, apostolic church was built in Pec. This church is now located within the complex of the Pec Patriarchy. And this church as we shall see below, turns out to be reconstructed in the old building, which was given any form of church time. On the facade of the church seen romanike ways of working, thorough and stone-carved, these Western-style elements romanik, romaniko-Gothic style, which we can say that the style in question will be presented to all objects of sacral character built in Kosovo during the Middle Ages developed. To build Apostolit Saints church in Pec, which built sometime in the second half of XIII th century, the data indicate that build, in fact, continued an old church and well preserved basilica type called trekishtare, the time of its existence is not known. Builders of the program work it Raska churches. That was in question was rebuilt notify these authors: Gj. Boskovic, M. Qanak-Mediq, BJ Djuric, S. Qirkoviq, V. Korac and Gj. Jankovic.
The data also show that the Monastery of Gracanica, according historical resource and archaeological findings over the years 1957, 1963 and 1964 developed by Serbian experts, is a century basilica built between the VI and XI's. This basilica was the center of the Ulpiana ipeshkvisë Dardane. After its collapse, the foundations of the Middle nave was rebuilt a church dedicated to Our Lady of Blessed of Gracanica. It is likely that if this church is mentioned in the letter of Pope Benedict XI's, the year 1303, as a Catholic parish church. On this church, it is understood that King nemanjid Millutini, Gracanica monastery built around the year 1316. That this church was built on old foundations of a Byzantine basilica, that its foundations are not fully utilized, V. Serbian scholar informs us Korac. Reports that this church was rebuilt to find the works of other authors such as V. Vuliq, P. Mijovic, D. Bogdanovic, V. Markovic, M. Kashanin and Gj. Jankovic.
Also to the Monastery of Saints Michael and Gabriel in Prizren, we find evidence of the author S. Nenadoviq and the book published by a group of authors "Kosovo nekad i Danas", that it is built on an ancient church Dardane the period of late antiquity. Reconstruction was done around 1348-1352. Monastery complex located in the Upper Castle, the Church of St. Nicholas and the Church of Saints. I would not mind that this complex of worship of the Orthodox rite used residents as both Sicilies "the Serbs". Archaeologists in the ruins of this monastery have uncovered fragments of Byzantine art interesting, Roman and Gothic    (F. Drançolli). What attracts more attention is the mosaic, which has no parallel with any mosaic in Serbia, but more resembles the mosaic in the baptistery of Florence Cathedral of Santa Maria (J. Drançolli). In the church of this monastery is known that the grave of kryezotëriut preserved arbëror, Strazimir Balsha since 1372 (G. and R. Tomovic Grujiq).Even with the construction of the monastery Kryeengjujve (Archangels) near Prizren, to be established by King Stefan Dushan (1331-1355), the data show that there existed an old religious object and that its ruins arose a new monastery . So, the monastery existed even before Dushan to rebuild. Provided support for: magazine noted under "Pravoslavlje, S. Novakoviq and Vl. Çoroviq.
In this regard, it is known that King Milutin in 1307 the church adopted Prene Our Lady cathedral in Prizren. According to archaeological and historical research of relevant material, it is assumed that the church of St. Prenës in Prizren had four stages of development. The first research was done by S. Nenadoviq, which determines the renewal of the old basilica which builds on the foundations of a Byzantine church of the ninth century or X's.He has found two phases of construction before the time of reconstruction of the XIV century and the reconstruction phase of 1306-1307. It was built on the foundations of the old facility notifies the author Gj. Jankovic. (S. Nenadoviq).
Impacts of western-style building will be seen best in Decani Monastery Church or as the called Pandakratori, restored or built during the reign of Stephen Decani and Dushan (1327-1335). The main feature of this object is the style of construction that shows romanik A. Stefanovic. According to records, the Decani Monastery built by Albanian architect Kuei At Vita - Cuci gurskalitës by 18 sculptors. Monastery of St. Stephen or Bajska Bathrooms located in Mitrovica, was rebuilt by King Milutin. His Murimi was conducted during the years 1312-1317. According to author D. Bogdanovic, it is possible that here even earlier had been a convent. That this facility was rebuilt on the foundations of an old temple and is supported by the authors V. Markovic, A.Stefanovic and magazines as well as from the Serbian Patriarchy "Pravoslavlje" published in Belgrade. Also, we have data that show for a number of neatly - Albanian prominent sculptors of the construction of churches that separated the time, such as Miho (Mike) Tivarasi the XIV century, gender Nikole Alex and Mark Gega etc..
